Ottawa, Canada - October 25, 2012
On Friday November 2nd the Free Thinking Film Society will host a special press conference with the producers and special guests of "Free China: The Courage to Believe" and "Death by China", two China related films that will be screening at the 3rd Annual Free Thinking Film Festival in Ottawa. With US elections upon us, this timely press conference/panel discussion chaired by Festival director Fred Litwin will raise important issues related to how China''s rise and our China policies will shape the future of North America and the rest of the world.
Joining the press conference will be Greg Autry, co-author of the book Death by China: Confronting the Dragon - a major release from Prentice Hall that has proven to be influential in America policy circles - who will discuss China''s tightly integrated economic, military, propaganda, and espionage strategies and the implications for Western governments and businesses. Mr. Autry will also discuss the growing dangers of a China induced regional or global conflict and the significant, though often unanalyzed risks that threat presents to Western firms and investors betting on China.
On the same day at 7pm, the Festival will feature the Canadian premiere of "Death by China", a film about the increasingly destructive economic trade practices of a rapidly rising China with author and producer of the film, Greg Autry in attendance also.
Others speaking at the press conference include Kean Wong, the producer of the award-winning film "Free China: The Courage To Believe" and Jennifer Zeng, slave labor camp survivor from China and the best-selling authorof "Witnessing History: One Woman''s Fight for Freedom and Falun Gong."
Screening at 12pm on Saturday Nov 3rd at the festival will be Free China: The Courage to Believe, a co-production between NTD Television and World2Be Productions. The film examines the widespread human rights violation inside China - from forced abortions to live organ harvesting of prisoners of conscience - through the remarkable stories of best-selling author Jennifer Zeng, a mother and former Communist Party member, and Dr. Charles Lee, an American Chinese businessman. Both Jennifer and Charles along with hundreds of thousands of peaceful citizens in China, were tortured and subjected to slave labor for their spiritual beliefs in the Falun Gong meditation practice.
This film also documents multi-national companies that profit from slave labor and reveals how anti-censorship internet technologies and a re-emergence of traditional values are bringing about a new China, one free from the Communist Party.
